Nine, including two children, killed as plane crashes in US' South Dakota
South Dakota (USA) | Jagran News Desk: As many as nine people, inlcuding two children, were killed in a plane crash in United States' South Dakota on Sunday, news agency ANI quoted US media as saying.
According to reports, three people have been injured in the incident. The authorities have reached the spot and rescue operation are underway. The incident occurred at around 12:30 pm and the injured have been rushed to a hospital in Sioux Falls.
The Federal Aviation Administration, in a statement, said that the plane had 12 people onboard and crashed shortly after takeoff from the Chamberlain Municipal Airport adding that the plane was en route to Idaho Falls Regional Airport in Idaho.
"A Pilatus PC-12, a single-engine turboprop passenger plane, had as many as 12 people on board when it crashed shortly after takeoff about a mile from Chamberlain Municipal Airport," it said.
"FAA investigators are on their way to the accident site, and the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified," it added.
Meanwhile, the National Transportation Safety Board in a tweet said that it was "investigating today's crash of Pilatus PC-12 near Chamberlain, SD."
The National Weather Service, meanwhile, said that the area of the crash was under a winter storm warning with a few inches of snow accumulating.
