Pakistan Plane Crash: No survivor reported after PIA flight with 107 on board crashes near Karachi Airport | As It Happened
Karachi | Jagran News Desk: In a horrifying incident, a Pakistani International Airlines (PIA) flight, carrying 99 passengers and eight crew members, crashed near Karachi airport. According to an AP report, all 107 passengers were killed in the tragedy. The PIA aircraft that crashed was an A320 and was scheduled to land at the Jinnah Garden area near Model Colony in Malir in Karachi.
Following the incident, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed grief over the incident and said that an immediate inquiry will be instituted. "Shocked and saddened by the PIA crash. Am in touch with PIA CEO Arshad Malik, who has left for Karachi and with the rescue and relief teams on ground as this is the priority right now. Immediate inquiry will be instituted. Prayers and condolences go to families of the deceased," he tweeted.

4.24 pm: Minister of Health and Population Welfare has declared emergency in all major hospitals of Karachi after the incident, Dawn news quoted Meeran Yousuf, the media coordinator to the Sindh health minister, as saying.
4.14 pm: "Pak Army Aviation helicopters flown for damage assessment and rescue efforts. Urban Search & Rescue Teams are being sent on site for rescue efforts," he added.
4.13 pm: "Army Quick Reaction Force and Pakistan Rangers Sindh troops reached the incident site for relief and rescue efforts alongside civil administration. Details to follow," said Pakistan Army's spokesperson in a tweet.
4.10 pm: Meanwhile, a rescue operation is underway and officials have reached the spot.
4.05 pm: Footage showed plumes of smoke rising from the site of the crash.
4.00 pm: According to Pakistani media reports, five houses and several vehicles were destroyed in the crash. Following the incident, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in Pakistan declared an emergency at the airport.
3.55 pm: As per initial reports, the plane crashed near a residential colony.
3.50 pm: The plane was carrying around 100 passengers.
