Nepal Landslides: Twelve dead, several missing as landslide sweeps houses in Myagdi, Jajarkot and Sindhpalchok
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: At least 12 people including three children died and around 19 others have been reported missing from various locations where multiple landslides triggered due to incessant rains in western Nepal on Friday.
According to news agency PTI, five of them were killed after a landslide swept away a house in Sarangkot area in Pokhara in the wee hours of Friday.
Around 10 people have suffered injuries during the accident and are undergoing treatment at different hospitals, the police told PTI.
Heavy monsoon rains caused landslides in the Sarangkot and Hemjan areas of Pokhara city in Kaski district of Nepal.
According to PTI, In two separate incidents of landslides that occurred on Thursday night, three members of a family were killed in Besishahar of Lamjung district and two others lost their lives in the Aathbiskot area of Rukum district.
Meanwhile, 12 people went missing after two houses were swept away by a landslide in Jajorkot district and around seven people were untraceable after their house was wiped out by a landslide in Myagdi district. Authorities reported that a landslide that occurred in Jogimara area has obstructed the Prithi Highway in western Nepal.
The continuous downpour for the last 48 hours has raised water levels of Narayani and other major rivers in the country.
According to a prediction that is given by the Meteorological Department, the monsoon rains will last for another three days in Nepal.
