Joe Biden promises to revoke H-1B visa suspension if elected US President
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Former US President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has promised to revoke the temporary suspension on H-1B visas if elected the President of the United States. Speaking at a town hall, Biden said that the people on the company visa have built the country and it will be his administration's priority to revoke the ban in the first 100 days of his presidency.
"He (US President Donald Trump) just ended H-1B visas the rest of this year. That will not be in my administration," the 77-year-old Democratic presidential candidate said. "The people on the company visa have built this country."
The H1B visas are mostly sought by Indian IT professionals. Ahead of the presidential elections in November this year, the Donald Trump administration last month suspended H1B visas along with other types of foreign work visas for the rest of 2020.
'Trump's immigration policy cruel'
Biden accused his Republican rival and current US President Donald Trump of being cruel when it comes to his immigration policy and said that he built his immigration policy would be built around keeping families together.
"On day one, I''m going to send the legislative immigration reform bill to Congress to provide a roadmap to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants who contribute so much to this country, including 1.7 million from the AAPI community.
"My immigration policy is built around keeping families together, modernising an immigration system by keeping families, unification and diversity as pillars of our immigration system, which it used to be," he added.
