Hong Kong | Jagran News Desk: Hong Kong airport authorities on Tuesday suspended all departures check-ins after the anti-government protestors blocked the facility for the second straight day.

"Terminal operations at Hong Kong International Airport have been seriously disrupted as a result of the public assembly," said the airport authority in a statement.

"All check-in service for departure flights has been suspended since 1630hrs (0930 GMT). Other departure and arrival flights for the rest of the day will continue to operate, and airlines will provide arrangements for passengers who have not completed the departure process," the statement further said.

"Members of the public are advised not to come to the airport," the statement added.

Earlier, the Hong Kong airport authority had cancelled all departing and arriving flights after thousands of anti-government protesters entered the arrival hall to stage a demonstration.

The decision came after thousands of protesters entered the airport holding signs reading "Hong Kong is not safe" and "Shame on police".

Meanwhile, traffic on roads to the airport was very congested and car park spaces were full, the authority said.

The increasingly violent protests have plunged Chinese-ruled Hong Kong into its most serious crisis in decades and presented a serious challenge to Beijing.
