California (USA) | Jagran News Desk: A 53-year-old woman was arrested on Wednesday after she licked items and groceries worth USD 1,800 at a supermarket in northern California. The woman has been identified as Jennifer Walker.

Speaking to news agency AFP, Chris Fiore, the official from South Lake Tahoe police department, near the border of Nevada said that on Tuesday officers were called to Safeway Store, as the phone ringed complaining about a customer who was licking groceries amid the spread of highly contagious, novel coronavirus, specifically, in the United States.    

When the police reached the store, one of the Safeway employees told that the suspect had hands-on several jewelry pieces from the store and later she started licking the jewelry and loaded her cart with the products she had contaminated. Suspect's shopping cart was full of meat, liquor, which was totally out of her primary concern, of robbing.

A case of felony vandalism has been lodged against the suspect, Jennifer Walker. In a conversation between police official Lt. Shannon Laney and NBC news, the suspicion over the records of Walker rises as the policeman quotes, "No local arrest record, but we've had local contact with her, we are familiar with her."

On further inquiry, the police officer refused to reveal the dices of previous dealings with Walker, pointing the defence of certain medical privacy laws that are constrained to be followed by the police in the United States.

The incident occurred on Tuesday and Walker remained in police confinement on Wednesday, the bond charged against the offensive act was of $10,000, as per the EL Dorado County jail records.
