A biker has been arrested by Bengaluru police for riding a 1000cc superbike at the speed of 299 kmph on Electronic City expressway. The biker had shared the video of him speeding his Yamaha R1 bike on the 10-km long four-lane Electronic City Elevated Expressway in Bengaluru. The video went viral on social media and found its way to the Bengaluru traffic policemen, who then traced the man using his bike's registration number and arrested him.

"This video made viral by the rider.. going at a dangerous speed of almost 300 kmph at Ecity flyover putting his own & others life at risk..CCB traced the rider & seized bike Yamaha 1000 CC.. handed over to traffic

In the video, the biker can be seen riding the bike at a dangerous speed of 299 kmph on a relativelly narrow stretch of the expressway as other vehicles go past him. Putting the lives of several others at risk, the man even overtook other vehicles, inlcuding a bike and two cars, at a speed over 100.

Netizens thanked the Bengaluru police for arresting the biker and criticsed him for putting others' lives at risk.

"Can't thank enough the action of @BlrCityPolice to spot such nuisance. Most young bikers in #Bengaluru indulge in overspeeding or making stunts on roads or breaking traffic rules, literally countless citations. Perhaps isolated arrests won't stop the trend," said one user on Twitter.

"Sheer madness. Will cause more problems for others. How can someone in a bus or car anticipate a bike travelling at 300kmph. Why don't they go to the race track & do it instead of messing with civil society," wrote another.

Some also questioned the Bengaluru police over the incident and asked what would have happened had he not shared the video on social media.

"Sir, aren't there any CCTV on the flyovers to check the speedy vehicles? what if the rider had not shared the video? 300kmps is not a joke ! would love to follow up on this case and see what punishment does the rider get," said one more user.
