Madhya Pradesh man ties knot with girlfriend and woman chosen by parents in same mandap, same time
New Delhi | Jagran Trending News: In shocking yet hilarious news, a resident of Madhya Pradesh Sandeep Uike married two women at the same mandap with all the rituals and formalities in presence of family and relatives. One of the brides was Sandeep’s girlfriend whereas the second wife was chosen by his family.
As per the report by news agency IANS, the man who is a resident of Keria village of Ghodadongri block met a woman whom he later fell in love with while studying in Bhopal. However, his family told him to tie the knot with a girl of their choice to which he denied, and later his denial turned into a dispute between families.
To solve the matter, a Panchayat was convened by the families where it was mutually decided that both the women should be married to Sandip, to which the families along with the girls agreed.
Later, on July 8 amid the pandemic, they took the seven rounds of the sacred fire and tied the knot in a ceremony held in Keria village. Relatives and families of the brides and groom were also present there.
A witness to the marriage, Mishrilal Parate who’s also a vice-president of Janpad Panchayat Ghodadongri said that the three families had no objection and themselves decided to go ahead with the marriage.
This being the first time in the Indian history where a man took vows with two wives simultaneously, district administrators said that they will look into the matter carefully.
On the other hand, considering the current dreadful coronavirus pandemic, Ghodadongri Tehsildar Monika Vishwakarma said that events like these which involve gatherings need proper permission however, no permission was asked nor given to anyone. She added that she will be sending an official to investigate the careless attitude.
