New Delhi | Jagran Trending Desk: Days after Bengaluru, people in Hyderabad and surrounding districts witnessed a rare spectacle in the sky, a sun halo. Yes, the beautiful halo-sun was spotted on June 2, Wednesday in several parts of Hyderabad and in neighbouring Medak, Siddipet and Sangareddy districts.

The unusual phenomenon caught the attention of a lot of people as they stepped out to see the rainbow-coloured ring around the Sun, also called '22 degree halo'. This was visible between 11 a.m. and 12.30 noon. Surprised to see the rare phenomenon, several citizens captured the image on their mobile phones and shared it on various social media platforms.

Take a look at the pictures of the 'halo-sun' here:

Scientifically, the sun halo is an optical phenomenon that occurs when sunlight refracts in millions of hexagonal ice crystals in the cirrus cloud. This later takes the form of a ring with a radius of approximately 22 degrees around the sun or the moon.

UK-based Atmospheric Optics, which is a knowledge-sharing website says that the 22 degree halos are visible all over the world and throughout the year. Halos are formed whenever the sky is wisped or hazed with thin cirrus clouds. These clouds are cold and contain ice crystals in even the hottest climes.

Now isn't it interesting? Well, it's definitely spectacular to look at.

For the unversed, before Hyderabad, the 'Sun Halo' was spotted in Bengaluru a few days ago. This created almost a similar excitement in people who took to their social media handles and shared the glimpses of the 'Sun Halo'.

Meanwhile, in many parts of Hyderabad, just a few hours after the 'Sun Halo was spotted, t started raining in some districts.

So guys, coming back to the sun halo's pictures, what are your thoughts on the same?
