New Delhi | Jagran Trending Desk: Days after the horrific incident of elephant killing came up in Kerala, a cow in Himachal Pradesh was also fed with an explosive-laden wheat dough which injured her jaw severely. The incident took place on May 25 in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district. The cow was pregnant at that time.

However, a man has been arrested by the police from Dadh village. The arrest has been made on the complaint of the accused’s neighbour who is also the owner of the injured cow. According to the police the accused has been charged with multiple sections of IPC and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

"Based on the complaint of the cow's owner, his neighbour has been arrested and FIR has been registered against him under multiple sections of IPC and Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He will be produced before the Court," said Preetam Sharma, SHO, Jhanduta Police Station as reported by news agency ANI.

Earlier Sanjay Sharma, DSP, Bilaspur said that On May 25, the cow of Gurdial Singh, resident of Dadh village of Jhanduta police station suffered physical harm, an FIR was lodged on his complaint. Avinash Sharma, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Bilaspur said that the cow was treated by veterinary doctors on May 26.

"A cow of Gurdial Singh of Bilaspur sustained fatal injuries on May 25 due to accidental ingestion of explosives. It was kept as bait for wild animals by hunters. The cow was treated by veterinary doctors on May 26," Sanjay Sharma said.

"Cow was pregnant at the time of the incident and was induced for parturition and delivered a live male calf. The cow is under treatment but the prognosis is grave as upper and lower jawbones have blown away. The ingestion is adversely affected," he added.

The incident took place on May 25 but grabbed headlines after the owner Gurdial Singh uploaded a video of the injured cow on social media. The video went viral and caused outrage on the social media, where the cruel killing of a pregnant elephant has already caused a massive stir.

Gurdayal blamed one of his neighbours for the cruel act. He alleged that one Nand Lal had fed his cow the dough balls stuffed with firecrackers while the animal was grazing in the field.
