Newborns in Uttar Pradesh named 'Lockdown' and 'Coronavirus'
New Delhi | Jagran Trending Desk: What comes as surprising news for us all, a couple in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district has named their newborns as 'Corona' (girl) and 'Lockdown' (boy).
The baby's father said that since the duo were born during the lockdown, he appreciates the effort by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enforce lockdown and save lives of people from the ongoing outbreak, as quoted by News 18.
He added that the lockdown is in the national interest and thus they have decided to name the child as 'Lockdown', and further went on to say that the boy's name would remind people of the national interest.
Pawan said that he and his family have been observing the nationwide 21-day lockdown and have asked relatives not to visit them till April 14. He added that the celebrations and rituals have been also postponed until the lockdown period.
In another case during last week, a newborn in Gorakhpur was also named Corona by her uncle. Her uncle, Nitesh Tripathi said that he decided to name the baby after the deadly virus because the pandemic has united the world against the disease. Born in Sohaguara village, the baby has already become the talk of the town.
Nitesh added that he named the child only after taking permission from her mother before naming the newborn. "The virus is no doubt dangerous and it has killed so many people in the world, but it has also inculcated many good habits in us and brought the world closer. This baby will be the symbol of people's unity to fight the evil," he was quoted as saying by News 18.
