New Delhi | Jagran Trending Desk: When most of the researches done on the deadly virus state that the elderly are the most vulnerable to the infection, a 113-year-old woman in Spain breaks all the assumptions and miraculously returns from isolation after winning the battle against the deadly coronavirus, which has killed nearly 27,000 people in Spain.

Identified as Maria Branyas, and recognized as the oldest person in Spain by Gerontology Research Group, which verifies and tracks supercentenarians, the woman was tested positive for coronavirus in April, and since then she had been isolating herself in an old age home.

Maria has a history of immunity as she was able to knock down one of the worst flu in the last century, 'The Spanish Flu,' back in 1918. The woman has survived two world wars and has been living in an old age home for the past two decades.

Branyas is a native of San Fransisco, in the United States, and was born on March 4, 1907. The 113-year-old lady has three children, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Maria said that she is fine now, just a bit of pain still bothers her like everybody else but she is definitely better.

Prior to Maria, a 106-year-old woman, Ana del Valle had recovered after battling with coronavirus. Coincidently, both the ladies have had a history of survival from the Spanish Flu, as back in 1918, Ana Del Valle as a four-year-old kid had been infected by the Spanish flu.

Though no reports of immunity have appeared in the patients who have recovered after battling with coronavirus infection, the suspicious connection of recovery with the Spanish Flu leaves everyone in suspicion.

Spain is one of the most badly hit nations, from the global pandemic of coronavirus. There are two lakh active cases reported in Spain, along with two 27,000 deaths.
