New Delhi | Jagran Technology Desk: Facebook-owned WhatsApp may soon launch a feature that will allow its users to run the app on two separate devices (smartphone as well as a tablet) with the same account without being disconnected from the main device. The social media giant has been reportedly working on this feature for over a year. This comes in addition to the already available dual feature desktop alongside smartphone which requires the scan of a unique QR code.

According to WhatsApp features tracker WABetaInfo, the feature was spotted in the latest WhatsApp version 2.20.143 beta for Android, however, it remains in development and there is still no date fixed for its release – though the launch appears to be imminent.

The report suggests that iOS users will be able to use their WhatsApp account on iPad too.

According to the tracker, the WhatsApp Web screen where it displays the specifications of the devices being logged into, the text strip “Use WhatsApp on other devices” was seen which, according to an NDTV report, points to other devices being able to use the same account in the near future.

Apart from this, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on the main screen feature which asks the user to use his/her Wi-Fi network to save data, when one logs in to another device.

The features are under development and are expected to be released soon, as the current Work from Home stimulus due to lockdown in most parts of the world, is encouraging enough for such multi-device interfaces.

With these WhatsApp features part of your smart-devices, all such gadgets of yours will receive incoming messages, when the multi-device feature is active, and all actions will be synced – such as starring a message, archiving and deletion of texts.
