'Say Namaste' Review: The App's simplistic interface is rather too over simplified
New Delhi | Jagran Technology Desk: Developed amid the limelight of ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘aatmanirbhar’(self-reliance) and anti-Chinese services narratives, while being touted as a potential challenger to non-Indian video-conferencing apps such as Google Meet and Zoom, the ‘Say Namaste’ video-conferencing service has gone Live everywhere, from Windows to iOS and Google’s Android Operating system as well.
According to Apptopia, the ‘Say Namaste’ app is being downloaded over 54,000 times with its Google Play Store rating standing firm at 4/5.
The ‘Say Namaste’ app’s interface is rather simplistic and not eye-catchy or over the top. But its simplistic interface does not correspond for its overall features because it ends up compromising the overall usability of it. The Android interface has been simply ported from its PC version and hence come the performance issues and consistent lagging and crashing issues. The over-simplified interface rather ends up putting it at the end of the queue of other Indian video-conferencing apps such as EnableX Meeting and Troop Messenger.
The camera pixels break quite badly to halt the clarity of viewing the other side of communicator. It can make you recall the early days of Skype, with low internet speed, which would make it difficult for you to view the other side, or at best would blur the image.
The app, however, does not require you to put in any login credentials, and you can join the meeting just by putting the code generated by the host. At once, fifty people can join the meeting, with a straightforward division between the ‘Chat’ and ‘Video Call’ divisions on the interface. One can also share the files (PDF, DOC and others) through the ‘Chat’ point given in the app through its interface.
Say Namaste has a scope of improvement, with quite significant work needed to sort out its lagging issues and Camera Pixels while on call. The improvements made in the interface will be instrumental in the success or failure of the app in the coming days.
