New Delhi | Jagran Tech Desk: Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released a new list of tariffs for cable TV users effective from March 1, 2020. Now the cable TV users will get double number of channels (200) for Rs 130 without tax. Besides this, TRAI has removed those channels that charge Rs 12 or more from the list. TRAI had previously asked cable and DTH operators to upload details on the above on their websites.

The regulator had said it has decided that in case of multi-TV homes where more than one connection is working in the name of one individual, it will charge a maximum of 40 per cent of declared Network Capacity Fee (NCF) for second or more TV connections.

In addition, TRAI has also decided to air mandatory channels in the compulsory pack by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the NCF. The authority has also permitted the operators to offer discounts on long-term subscriptions that are for six months or more.

As per experts, the amended rules could affect broadcast operators' revenues by lowering the average revenue per user, which grew up by 60 per cent after changes last year.

The telecom regulatory authority had started new tariffs, in which viewers had the freedom of paying for only those channels or packs that they want to see. But it did include the mandatory pack of RS 130 that offered 100 channels, including Doordarshan packs.

The new rules are part of the changes the regulator has made to its 2017 tariff order for broadcasting and cable TV services.

Here are some channels that you get free of cost in the compulsory pack: 9XM, 9X Jalwa, TV 24, Mahua Plus, DoorDarshan all packs, ABP News, India TV, IND 24, B4U Movies, B4U Music, BTVi, UTV movies, E24, among others.
