New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) set a countdown for the launch of satellite RISAT-2BR1 from launch vehicle PSLVC48 set to take from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota at 4.40 pm on Tuesday. PSLV-C48 is the 50th mission of PSLV that will launch RISAT-2BR1-- a radar imaging earth observational satellite-- from the First Launch Pad (FLP). The satellite weighing about 628 kg, will be placed into an orbit of 576 km at an inclination of 37 degrees.

Besides this, PSLV-C48 will also carry nine customer satellites of the USA (6) and one each from Japan, Italy, and Israel as co-passengers. These international customer satellites are being launched under a commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited, ISRO said in a press release.

PSLV-C48 is the second flight of PSLV in QL configuration with 4-strap-on motors. This will be the 75th launch vehicle from Sriharikota and 37th from First Launch Pad (FLP).

Earlier on Monday, the Indian space agency had released the top view of the PSLV-C48 featuring the bulbous payload fairing that houses #RISAT-2BR1 and nine customer satellites.

This is the second launch by ISRO after Chandrayaan 2-- which failed to soft-land on the lunar surface. Last month, ISRO had successfully launched another earth imaging satellite CARTOSAT-3 and 13 US-based commercial nanosatellites.

It was placed in an orbit of 509 km at an inclination of 97.5 degrees to furnish images that cater to the demand for large scale urban planning, rural resource and infrastructure development, coastal land use and land cover.

With the launch, India had gone on to cross the feat of injecting 300 foreign satellites into orbit. 12 of these satellites were called FLOCK-4P while the 13th one was named MESHBED-- a communication testbed satellite.
