New Delhi | Jagran Tech Desk: Tech Giant Google on Tuesday shared a doodle to celebrate the new year. The picture shows a frog celebrating the new year with a bird on top of a high rise building and behind him are the fireworks. If you move your cursor on the top of the doodle, it shows New Year's Eve message. In its message, Google said, "People from different walks of life get their lives intertwined as they face multiple challenges when they embark on a quest to find happiness on New Year's Eve."
The new year's eve or December 31 is the last day of the year and it is also known as Saint Sylvester's Day. In most of the countries, the New Year's eve is celebrated at evening social gatherings, where many people drink, eat, dance, watch or light fireworks. The celebrations generally go on past midnight till midnight into the New Year, January 1.

Tonga and Kiritimati are the first places to welcome the New Year while Baker Island in the USA is among the last. In India, major celebrations take place in metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, among others. The New Year is also celebrated in other cities such as Ranchi, Agra, Bhubaneshwar, Goa, etc.
There is a lot of events, awards, shows and parties that are organised all over India. Big celebrities and personalities also take part in these parties and entertain us. Many discos and pubs organise DJs, famous singer and liven up the night with their music and songs. Goa and Kerela in the southern part of India are the most visited destination during the New year both by Indian and foreign tourists.

Major events like concerts and dance by B-Town celebs are also organised and attended by youths. People often celebrate the New Year Eve with the family. Hotels and resorts are decked up in anticipation of the tourists. However, some people across the country, follow old traditions. The Hindus organise Pujas for a fruitful year, while Christians visit church for a night service till midnight praying for blessings for the upcoming year.
