New Delhi l Jagran News Desk: Former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj passed away at the age of 67. According to reports, Swaraj was admitted to Delhi's AIIMS after suffering a heart attack.

After she was rushed to the hospital at around 9.30 pm, a team of doctors tried to revive her for 70-80 minutes but failed in their attempt. She was declared dead at 10.50 pm.

She was appointed the External Affairs Minister (EAM) in the first term of Modi government in 2014. The portfolio is now held by former foreign secretary S. Jaishankar.

Several politicians offered condolences at the passing away of the former EAM. Sports fraternity too condoled her sad demise, here is what they have to say:

Team India cricket skipper, Virat Kohli wrote, "Deeply saddened by the news of Sushma Ji's demise, may her soul rest in peace."

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif tweeted, "Here in the West Indies and just heard the terrible news of passing away of #SushmaSwaraj ji. Condolences to her family, gone too soon."

Another former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir wrote, "I'm beyond aggrieved at the passing away of Smt. #SushmaSwaraj A veteran politician and a pillar of the BJP, she was loved by everyone. She will be remembered as the most endearing & helpful politicians of recent times. My condolences to her family and friends. A huge loss for India."

Former opening batsman Virendra Sehwag shared: "Heartfelt condolences to family and admirers of #SushmaSwaraj ji. Om Shanti"

Six-time world champion boxer Mary Kom said, "Deeply grieved to hear the demise of Smt #SushmaSawraj ji. My condolences to her family in this hour of grief. May her departed soul Rest In Peace."

Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra in a tweet conveyed, "RIP Sushma Swaraj. May God give her family the strength to overcome this irreparable loss."

Indian wrestler Babita Phogat said that the country has lost a great skilled leader and that Swaraj was no less than a school for women who want to step into politics.

Among others sportspersons, Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar said, "Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of former foreign minister @SushmaSwaraj ji... Condolences to the family. May her soul RIP."

Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap expressed sadness, saying, "Shocked and deeply saddened by this news. RIP @SushmaSwaraj ma'am."

Swaraj during her tenure implemented the government's foreign policy on a global scale while strengthening India's fight against terrorism.
