New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Ace shuttler PV Sindhu on Thursday crashed out of the China Open Super 1000 tournament after losing to Thailand's Pornpawee Chocchuwong in women's singles in the pre-quarterfinals.

The reigning world champion lost to Chocchuwong 21-12, 13-21 and 19-21 in the game that lasted just 50 minutes.

She won the first set quite convincingly but Pornpawee came hard to win the last second set. The Indian shuttler had led 12-7 in the final set and 19-15 before Thai won straight six points to set up quarterfinal clash against Chen Yufei. 

Earlier, Sindhu had defeated China's Li Xuerui 21-18, 21-12 in just 34 minutes to clash with Pornpawee Chochuwong. The latter had defeated Canda's Michelle Li.

Among men, mixed double pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty had earlier faced defeat and were ruled out of China Open after losing to Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda of Japan on Thursday. 

The duo who ranks 15th in world rankings could not maintain their top start against fourth-seeded players losing 19-21 and 8-21 in the second round that lasted just 33 minutes.

Meanwhile, Parupalli Kashyap and B Sai Praneeth will be seen in action in men's singles later today.
