New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Premier League champions Manchester City came back to winning ways as they defeated Watford 8-0 in a one-sided match in the English Premier League (EPL) on Saturday.

The match kicked off in favour of Man City as David Silva kicked off the proceedings in the opening minute. Sergio Aguero doubled the lead Riyad Mahrez made it 3-0 in just 12 minutes. Bernardo headed in the fourth while Otamendi hit the fifth in a premier league record of 18 minutes. It was 6-0 in the 48th minute through Silva, after which he completed his premier league hat-trick.

De Bruyne scored the eighth and final goal as Man City continues to be placed in second place. Watford remained bottom with two points in the league table.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola whose side had witnessed a surprising defeat to Norwich City last week said his team was a joy to watch as they won 8-0. "People still don't understand - journalists, pundits, former players - that losing games is part of life. Opponents always deserve respect. The same feeling I have now, I had after Norwich, so it was not a bad performance last week. We can lose the games, but the important thing is the approach and how we react," Guardiola was quoted as saying by BBC.

In other matches that took place on Saturday, AFC Bournemouth won the second encounter against Southampton 3-1. Leicester City got the better off Tottenham Hotspur defeating them 2-1. Norwich City failed to impress again as they lost 2-0 to Burnley while Marco Silva's men Everton suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United. Newcastle and Brighton Hove Albion settled with a 0-0 draw.
