New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Eminent Supreme Court lawyer and former Union Minister Ram Jethmalani passed away on Sunday at the age of 95. He breathed his last at 7.45 am at his official residence in New Delhi.

According to his family, Jethmalani was suffering from months and had lost a lot of weight. His son, Mahesh Jethmalani said that his last rites will be performed in the evening at the Lodhi Road crematorium.

Many political leaders expressed their grief over the demise of Jethmalani. Remembering Jethmalani, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “In the passing away of Shri Ram Jethmalani Ji, India has lost an exceptional lawyer and iconic public figure who made rich contributions both in the Court and Parliament. He was witty, courageous and never shied away from boldly expressing himself on any subject.”

President Ram Nath Kovind also expressed condolence and remembered the late lawyer for his 'characteristic eloquence', 'erudition and intellect'.

“Saddened by the passing of Shri Ram Jethmalani, former Union Minister and a veteran lawyer. He was known to express his views on public issues with his characteristic eloquence. The nation has lost a distinguished jurist, a person of great erudition and intellect,” he said.

Many political leaders also expressed their grief over Jethmalani’s demise.

Jethmalani is survived by his son, Mahesh Jethmalani, and a US-based daughter. He was married to Durga at an age above 18 and has three children. In 1947, he got married again to Ratna Shahani with whom he has one son.
