Congress suspends Sanjay Jha 'for anti-party activities' hours after praising Sachin Pilot
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Hours after he praised Rajasthan rebel Sachin Pilot, the Congress party on Wednesday suspended its senior leader and former national spokesperson Sanjay Jha "for anti-party activities and breach of discipline". The suspension letter signed by Maharashtra Congress chief Balasaheb Thorat said: "Shri Sanjay Jha has been suspended from the Congress party with immediate effect for anti party activities and breach of discipline."
"Nothing surprises me. What are the anti-party activities I indulged in? The least the Congress could have done was to approach me," the sacked Congress leader was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The "disciplinary action fromt he Congress party against Jha was not surprising given his recent rebellion. He had recently written a newspaper article critical of the Congress party and the Gandhi family. After that, he was removed as a Congress spokesperson.
The suspension also came hours after he praised another Congress rebel Sachin Pilot, who was also sacked as Rajasthan deputy CM and party's state unit chief. Jha had said that it was Pilot who led the Congress party's come back in Rajasthan from 21 seats in 2013 to 100 in 2018.
"For five years Sachin Pilot gave his blood , tears, toil and sweat for the Congress party between 2013-18. The Congress came back from a wretched 21 seats to 100. We just gave him a performance bonus. We are so meritocratic. We are so transparent," Jha wrote on Twitter.
