Kolkata | Jagran News Desk: BJP leader Mukul Roy on Saturday claimed that as many as 107 MLAs, mostly from the ruling TMC, are in touch with the BJP and are likely to join them ‘very soon.’

He said that many TMC leaders, both at state and district levels, have lost confidence in the Mamata Banerjee-led party and are fed up with the way it is functioning.

"Nearly 107 MLAs are in touch with us. The majority of them are from the TMC. Few are from the Congress and the CPI(M). They are willing to join the saffron camp very soon," Roy said.

He further said that the list has been prepared and the MLAs are in contact with the BJP.

Roy’s comment comes after several TMC members are returning to the party after switching to the BJP.

After the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, six TMC MLAs, one Congress and one CPI(M) has joined the BJP. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP 18 of 42 seats in West Bengal.

He also mocked the Trinamool Congress over its appointing political strategist Prashant Kishor.

"The appointment of Prashant Kishor is ample evidence that the TMC has lost confidence in the so-called charisma of Mamata Banerjee. That is why it needs a political strategist to save its sinking ship," he said.

Kishor recently held a series of meetings with Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee over the TMC's performance in the Lok Sabha polls and on the ways to revive it ahead of the 2021 West Bengal assembly polls.

Roy had joined the BJP in 2017 following differences with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Earlier, 10 Congress MLAs from Goa were inducted into the BJP in the presence of working party president JP Nadda and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in New Delhi. An identical political situation has gripped Karnataka as well.
