New Delhi | Jagran Tech Desk: Hong Kong-based company Lenovo on Tuesday launched the world's first foldable PC at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2020) being held at Las Vegas, US from January 7 to 10. The smartphone manufacturer has launched ThinkPad X1 Fold that weighs nearly 1 kg. The foldable PC will be first available in the US before making its way to India. Though the company is yet to release its date of sale, it is likely to commence by the June 2020.
The device is a part of Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 series. The device includes 13.3-inch screen, pOLED display and built on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G computer platform and LG Display. The screen resolution of the foldable PC is 2048 x 1536 pixels. The device uses stainless steel foil to prevent scratch. The fold bends inwards and the two halves of the display lie upon each other. ThinkPad X1 Fold will be available for Rs 1,79,200.
The device comes up with Bluetooth keyboard facility and has dolby stereo speakers. It has fan, heat sink, motherboard, speakers, battery. ThinkPad X1 Fold also possesses 5 MP and IR camera. The device has USB-C ports on either side of the device to make it convinient to hook up an extenrnal moniotr. It runs on Windows 10 Pro and include 8GB RAM and 1 TB storage.
The company said that it has been working on the foldable device for last four years. "In 2015 we started doing user research on the size of screens, the utility of twin displays versus a single folding display, and what is sort of the right form factor,” Tom Butler, Lenovo's ThinkPad marketing director told the media. "It’s business-oriented and meant for productivity. We’re not trying to be something we’re not,” he added.
