New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: A penalty miss from Paul Pogba proved costly for Manchester United as they settled for a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton at Molineux on Monday.

The visitor took the lead in the first half after Anthony Martial scored the first goal of the match in the 27th minute to keep 1-0 lead at half-time but, Ruben Neves hit a brilliant equaliser at the 55th minutes for Wolves to reduce the deficit. Later, Pogba was denied a goal by Patricio with 22 minutes left.

It was a curious decision from Paul Pogba to take the spot-kick as Rashford was the one who scored a penalty when the red devils faced Chelsea in their previous premier league match, as per reports.

Pogba has now missed four Premier League penalties since 2018-19 season.

Manchester could have gone top of the table, but instead, they have to reflect on what they did wrong in the game and at the end phase of the last season.

The Old Trafford based club has made some signings including defender Harry Maguire to strengthen their defense.

Daniel James made his maiden start for the reds after the close-season signing from Swansea. Solskjaer has described him as United's 'x-factor'.

Meanwhile, there was no place for forward Alexis Sanchez, who has been linked with Inter Milan. He may join former team-mate Romelu Lukaku in the Serie A club.

At an average of 24 years and 173 days, Solskjaer had picked United's youngest Premier League starting line-up since the final day of the last season's campaign.
