New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday registered a 2-2 draw against Manchester City as the blues were denied a crucial late goal by an intervention from video assistant referee.

The match started in the late afternoon sunshine with the premier league defending champions starting their home campaign against last season's champions league runner-ups.

Man City dominated the game for a large period and were twice ahead through goals from Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero. Sterling started the opener in the 20th minute for Man City.

Erik Lamela reduced the deficit, scoring a goal for Tottenham Hotspur in the 23rd minute to keep them level at 1-1 but soon Sergio Aguero netted the goal in the 35th minute to take hosts 2-1 ahead at half time. Later, Lucas Moura scored a 56th-minute goal to deny Man City's lead.

Frustration started in the stoppage time when Gabriel Jesus late goal was denied by a VAR review following a handball by Aymeric Laporte. The celebrations at Stamford Bridge lasted well above one minute before the review.

The draw ended Manchester City's 15-match winning streak in the premier league.
“We played incredible. One of the best games we’ve played in our time together. We played good, but unfortunately we could not win. We’ll recover, train and prepare for the next game. We don’t have regrets, that’s the most important thing," manager Pep Guardiola was quoted as saying to Man City's official website.

Aguero scored his first goal in eight matches against Spurs, his 11th in 15 games against the London-based club. Belgian Kevin De Bruyne who was involved in both assists for Man City won Man of the Match award.
