New Delhi |Jagran News Desk: On the occasion of Christmas, many exchange gifts and greetings, make a wish to Santa and hope for a better New year. Taking opportunity of this day, the Congress satirized the ruling BJP with funny cartoons telling Santa their wishes they want to be completed this Christmas. Bursting with Christmas cheers, the Congress also merrily sang the Jingle Bells for its arch-rival.
In a tweet, the Congress posted "Jumla bells, jumla bells, jumlas all the way," the Congress tweeted this afternoon, using cartoons of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders to ridicule BJP, ("Jumla" means misleading rhetoric). The next line reads, "Oh, what fun it is to see what an honest government might say."
The cartoons include Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman and Smriti Irani, telling their wishes to Santa in a reference to the current scenarios prevailing in the country.
One of the cartoons -- of Home Minister Amit Shah -- has the text, "All I want for Christmas is for Modi to do what I say."
The Home Minister’s cartoon appears to be a reference to the current scenario where the Modi-Shah duo is surrounded by controversies regarding their contradicting comments on the National Register of Charters (NRC), which was carried out in Assam in August this year.
PM Modi in his rally in Ramlila Maidan, on Sunday, amid the protests against Citizenship Act and NRC, said that the countrymen should not fear NRC as ‘no discussion had taken place about implementing pan-India NRC’. While Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who piloted the NRC and CAA, had earlier asserted that a nation-wide NRC would be implemented, but yesterday in an interview with news agency ANI, Amit Shah agreed with PM Modi’s comments.
The attack of Congress doesn’t end here, the party even compared the decreasing funds allocated to states for the betterment of Police forces by the BJP government.
The party went on to say, "The Modi govt has used the defence & security forces to garner votes multiple times but in reality, it has done very little to improve their lives. When it comes to Police forces, it's the same story - remembered by PM Modi only in politically convenient times."
In a third tweet, the party also highlighted the police-to-population ration in BJP ruling states and Congress-ruled Punjab and tweeted, "As is evidenced by the growing violence in BJP ruled states, the ruling party has done little to protect citizens or provide relief & assistance to Police forces. Congress-ruled Punjab far surpasses the national average of Police-to-Population ratio”.
