New Delhi | Jagran Politics Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday addressed the Parliament over the civilian killings in Nagaland in which 14 civilians were killed. Promising justice, Shah defended the Indian Army and said that the operation was launched after inputs from local sources, but they mistakenly fired at the civilians. Shah said that the situation "tense but under control", adding that a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter.

15:10 hours: 6 out of the 8 people in vehicle died. It was later found to be a case of mistaken identity. 2 others who were injured were taken to nearest health centre by Army. After receiving news of this, local villagers surrounded the Army unit, set 2 vehicles on fire and attacked them, says Amit Shah.

15:08 hours: Army had received info on movement of extremists in Oting, Mon. On that basis, 21 commandos laid an ambush in suspected area. A vehicle reached there, it was signalled to stop but it tried to flee. On suspicion of the vehicle carrying extremists, it was fired upon, says Amit Shah.
