Shimla | Jagran News Desk: Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah on Friday accused the Congress of misleading the people on the Citizenship Amendment Act, saying that the CAA has no provision to take anyone’s citizenship away.

“Congress and company are spreading rumours that this act will take away citizenship of minorities, Muslims. I challenge Rahul baba to show even one clause in the act that has provision to take away citizenship of anyone,” Shah said while addressing a public rally in the Himachal Pradesh capital on the second anniversary of the BJP government led by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur.

On Thursday, Shah had accused the opposition of creating confusion over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and spoiling the atmosphere in the national capital by misleading people, asserting that the time has come to "punish the 'tukde tukde' gang".

"The opposition led by the Congress created confusion about the Citizenship Amendment Bill (now an Act). Delhi saw people coming out on streets over it and the peaceful atmosphere of Delhi was spoiled after a long time," the home minister said.

"I want to say it with a lot responsibility that by misleading Delhi and its people (on the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA), the opposition spoiled the peaceful atmosphere of Delhi," Shah said on the recent protests, some of which turned violent in areas such as Jamia Nagar and Seelampur.

The BJP is eyeing to get support letters addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from as many as one crore people as part of its massive awareness campaign on the CAA, under which, the party, the RSS and its affiliates will be contacting around three crore families across India.

The mega campaign will be launched in different cities by Amit Shah, working president JP Nadda and other senior leaders on January 5 and it will culminate on January 15 at a mega rally which is under consideration.
