Here's all you need to know about railway budget 2020:
* Delhi-Mumbai expressway and two other projects will be completed by 2023: Nirmala Sitharaman
* FM proposes setting up of a large solar-powered capacity alongside rail tracks
* High-speed train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be actively pursued: Sitharaman
In its previous budget, the railway sector was allocated Rs 65,837 and a capital expenditure of Rs 1.60 lakh crore. For construction of new lines, the government allocated Rs 7,255 crore while Rs 2,200 crore was allocated for gauge conversion.
The government’s focus was also on developing passenger amenities with the planned expenditure on that count being allocated Rs 3,422 crore which is an additional outlay of around Rs 1,000 crore for the comfort of the users.
The government had also allocated Rs 267.64 crore for the Nirbhaya Fund including provision of Rs 250 crore for Integrated Emergency Response Management System (IERM) and Rs 17.64 crore for Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. On the other hand, the government had allocated Rs 2,16,675 crore for the Gross Traffic Receipts.
