New Delhi | Jagran Lifestyle Desk: Karwa Chauth is an auspicious festival in which Hindu wives fasts for the longevity, prosperity and well being of their husband. The fast begins during sunrise and ends after worshipping the moon at night. The festival is observed nine days before Diwali in the Hindu month of Ashwin. On this day, special recipes are made that are served during dinner and exchanged among married women.
Here are a few quick recipes that you can prepare on Karwa Chauth:
Broken Wheat Kheer
Ingredients: Broken wheat, water, jaggery, cornflour, cardamom powder, coconut milk, and chopped almonds.
Prepare broken wheat in dry ginger 
Cook it for 8 minutes by adding water.
Add jaggery and let it simmer for one more minute.
Mix coconut milk under low flame, let it boil.
Add cardamom powder, garnish it with chopped almonds and serve.
Aloo Tikki
Ingredients: Potatoes, Green chilli paste, garam masala, bread crumbs, turmeric powder, ginger paste, beaten egg and oil.
Boil potatoes for a few minutes and peel, and smash it.
Mix potatoes with rest of the ingredients (except oil and egg).
Heat oil in a pan and roll it with egg
Deep fry till gets golden brown
Poori Bhaji
Ingredients: Curd, wheat flour, water, salt, oil, potatoes, onion, green chillies, ginger, garlic, powder, lemon, oil, coriander, mustard and cumin seeds.
Mix curd in wheat flour, add salt and water and leave it for around 12-15 minutes.
Shape the dough into balls and roll it in the shape of poori
Deep fry the rolls in hot oil and drain oil on a kitchen paper
Heat oil in a pan, add seeds, let it splutter
Add ginger, garlic, onion and chilli and stir it.
Add potato, salt, turmeric and lemon juice and cook for two minutes.
Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and serve with hot poori and pickles.
Dum Aloo
Ingredients: potato, garam masala, tomato, jeera, dhaniya powder, hing, red chilli and turmeric powder, oil, salt and coriander leaves.
Peel small potatoes and keep the round shape.
Heat oil in pressure cooker, add jeera, hing and chopped tomato and cook it.
Add potatoes after a liitle bit of gap and fry for two minutes.
Add dhaniya, haldi, red chilli, salt and garam masala and water.
Cover it for 5-7 minutes and allow to cook for 5-7 minutes, sprinkle corainder leaves.
Serve it hot puris or chapatis.
Paneer Makhanwala
Mix chopped onions, ginger, garlic, tomatoes, cashews. cinnamon, mace, cloves and cardamom in a cup of water. Cook it for 15 minutes.
Heat butter, add tejpatta and ground makhani paste. Stir well.
Add red chilli powder and make it paste. Add green chilli, salt and water.
Add sugar and paneer cubes and cook for 2 minutes.
Add cream, kasuri methi and garam masala and serve it hot naan or rotis.
