New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: At a time when the world is leavimng no stone unhurled hard to find a possible cure for the coronavirus, Patanjali Ayurved has claimed that the company has prepared an Ayurvedic medicine that can cure COVID-19 patients within 5 to 14 days. 

Asking people to practice Yoga and keep themselves healthy through proper diet to boost the immune system, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder, Acharya Balkrishna claimed that the trail of the medicine was conducted on hundreds of patients and it has produced “100 per cent favourable results”.

“We appointed a team of scientists after COVID-19 outbreak. Firstly, the simulation was done and compounds were identified which can fight the virus and stop its spread in the body. Then, we conducted a clinical case study on hundreds of positive patients and we have got 100 per cent favourable results,” Balkrishna was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“After taking our medicine, COVID patients recovered in 5-14 days and then tested negative. So, we can say the cure for COVID is possible through Ayurveda. We are performing controlled clinical trials only. In the next 4-5 days, evidence and data will be released by us,” he added.

Balkrishna said that the company will share the results of clinical trial soon while adding that is conducting clinical trials as per the government regulations.

What are the components of the medicine and how does it works?

Speaking about the components of the medicine, Balkrishna said that Ashwagandha, Giloy (Tinospora Cordifolia), Tulsi and Shvasari juice have been used in the medicine.

He said that Ashwagandha does not allow COVID-19's RBD to mix with the ACE of the human body which prevents it from entering the healthy cells of the patient. He added that Giloy also works as Ashwagandha.

He said that Tulsi has also been used in the medicine which constrains the rate of coronavirus’ increase in the infected body by attacking the RNA-polymerases of attacking the RNA of the infection.

Speaking about the Shvasari juice, the Patanjali CEO said that it prevents the formation of thick mucus and reduces inflammation of the lungs by eliminating saliva.

The statement from the Patanjali CEO comes at a time when the whole world is trying to find a cure for the deadly coronavirus which has wreaked havoc across the globe.

So far, over 100 potential vaccines for the novel infection are in various stages of development around the world. However, none of them has been able to achieve the desired results.

In India, the deadly coronavirus has affected more than 3.32 lakh people in the country and claimed the lives of over 9,500. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, nearly 1.70 lakh people in India have been cured from coronavirus and discharged from hospitals.
