New Delhi | Jagran Lifestyle Desk: Basant Panchami is being celebrated across India on Thursday. The festival marks the onset of spring and celebrated on fifth day of Hindi Magha month. On this day, Maa Saraswati-- Goddess of knowledge, arts and music is worshipped. People wear yellow clothes on Basant Panchami as it considered favourite by the Goddess. Popular delicacies like rajbhog, khichdi, sondesh, kachauri, labra, etc. are prepared on Saraswati Puja. Kite flying is prepared on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami.

On this day, Goddess Saraswati is worshiped with divine songs. The most popular worship song is believed to be the song 'Veenavadini Var De' written by poet Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala'. Basant Panchami is worshiped at Saraswati temples and places where idols are installed in several parts of the country.
