'Won't keep anyone in dark': Rajnath Singh's jibe at Opposition over situation at LAC
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Amid the ongoing tensions with China over the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday took a jibe at the Opposition, saying the government will not keep the Parliament or anyone in the "dark about developments on the border" and will share details at an appropriate time.
Addressing a virtual rally for Jammu and Kashmir, the Defence Minister said that India will never compromise on its "national pride", asserting that it is no longer a "weak" country and that its security capability has increased.
"Talks underway with China at diplomatic and military level. China too expressed wish to resolve this issue via talks. I'd like to inform Opposition that our government won't keep anyone in the dark. I assure you that we won't compromise with national pride in any situation," Rajnath Singh was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
"I want to assure that we will not compromise with national pride under any circumstance. India is no longer a weak India. Our strength in national security has risen. But this strength is not meant to frighten anyone but to secure our country," he added.
The Defence Minister further said that China has also expressed its wish to resolve the dispute with India through talks, and the Indian government also has a similar view.
"This is also our effort to defuse the tussle between India and China through military and diplomatic level talks," he said while noting that the two countries are engaged in military level dialogue.
The Chinese military started a build-up along the Line of Actual Control in May first week along the Ladakh sector and Sikkim where they came to the Naku La area and had a face-off with the Indian troops there. The two countries have held military and diplomatic talks to resolve the stand-off in Eastern Ladakh.
Rajnath also spoke about the abrogation of Article 370, which had given the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir a special status, has led to all round development in the union territory.
"Just wait, soon people of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) will demand that they want to be with India and not under the rule of Pakistan, and the day this happens, a goal of our Parliament will also be accomplished," he noted.
Rajnath also said that the situation has now changed completely and our channels are now showing the temperature of Muzaffarabad-Gilgit while adding that even Islamabad was feeling the pressure and trying to create mischief.
