New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In another instance of attack on Saadhus (Priests), bodies of two priests were found in a temple in Pagona village of Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district on Tuesday. The two saadhus were allegedly murdered by a man they had accused of theft recently, the police said.

The police have also arrested the accused and further investigation is underway. According to the police the accused had taken away some belongings of the priest few days back, following which they has scolded him. Angry with the scolding of the priests, the accused murdered them.

"The two priests used to live here at the temple. One person named Murai alias Raju who is a cannabis addict and who frequently visited the temple apparently took away a 'chimta' (tong) for which he was chided by the priests. For that, he killed them using a sword. Villagers also spotted Murari going outside the village," Santosh Kumar Singh, SSP Bulandshahr ssaid as quoted by ANI. The accused was arrested two kilometres from the village where he was found in an inebriated state, he said.

According to report by News 18, the two deceased have been identified as Jagandas,55, and Sevadas,35. The murder came to light after people visited the temple today morning and found blood-soaked bodies of the priests. 

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the alleged killings and has sought a detailed report regarding the incident from the district administration. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police and other senior officers to reach the spot immediately.

The Chief Minister has also sought a detailed account of the incident from officials and asked them to ensure the strictest action against the culprits.

Reacting upon the incident, Maharashtra chief minister Udhhav Thackeray called Yogi Adityanath and appealed for strict action against the culprit without giving the matter a communal angle. Have spoken to Yogi Adityanath over phone and discussed the incident. I told him we are with you against such a heinous crime. Just the way we acted upon and nabbed the accused, I wish you would do the same and avoid giving this a communal angle," Uddhav Thackeray tweeted.

Another Shiv Sena leader, Sanjay Raut also tweeted after the incident came to light and said, "Terrible! Killing of two saints, sadhus at a temple in Bulandshahar, UP, but I appeal to all concerned to not make it communal the way they tried to make Palghar, Maharashtra incident". 

The incident came days after two saadhus and their driver were killed by a mob of people in Maharashtra's Palghar district, allegedly over rumours that they kidnapped children for organs. The incident drew nation-wide attention, after many called the incident a communal attack on saadhus.
