New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In a heart-wrenching incident, a three-year-old child was rescued by the Jammu and Kashmir police, while his grandfather succumbed to the injuries after the terrorists attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) patrol party, near the car of the deceased man in which the child was sitting with him in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore.

Visuals on news agency ANI showed the boy crying, while he was rescued by a Jammu and Kashmir police officer. The J-K police also tweeted the image of the child.

Another video, shared by news agency ANI, showed the police officials consoling the crying child while taking him to his mother.

According to  Azim Khan SHO Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir, the terrorists kept on firing on the CRPF troops even after the civilian was lying dead and the child was sitting beside him. He said that it was a challenging task as they have to save the child as well as save themselves from the constant shelling by the terrorists. 

A Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF) patrolling party was attacked by the terrorists today morning in Model Town area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore. Apart from the civilian, one CRPF jawan also succumbed to his injuries, while three others were severely injured.    

The Jammu and Kashmir police have cordoned off the area and started the search operation. The injured personnel were rushed to the nearby hospital, news agency ANI reported. According to the CRPF, two of the three injured soldiers are critical. 

"Terrorists attacked a Naka party at Model town in Sopore. Injuries to some Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans and a civilian reported. Area cordoned off and search operation started" Dilbag Singh, DGP Jammu & Kashmir Police said as reported by news agency ANI. 

Terrorists resorted to indiscriminate firing on a CRPF patrol party in Baramulla district's Sopore town, about 50 km from Srinagar, police said. The CRPF troops retaliated but the terrorists managed to escape.

A total of four CRPF personnel were injured in the attack, of which one succumbed to the injuries. A civilian, who was in a car with his children, also lost his life after getting hit by bullets.
