Sheila Dikshit Passes Away: Mortal remains to be kept at Delhi residence, last rites tomorrow
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Former Delhi Chief Minister and Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit passed away at the age of 81 on Saturday. She was hospitalised in Escorts Fortis in Delhi after she complained of vomiting.
"Sheila Dikshit was managed well by a team of doctors. At 3:15 pm she again suffered a cardiac arrest. She was put on a ventilator and at 3:55 pm she passed away peacefully," said Dr. Ashok Seth, Director, Escorts Fortis.
She met many Congress leaders on Thursday and was reportedly disturbed with the ongoing crisis in the Congress party.

06:33 pm: Lieutenant governor of Delhi Anil Baijal calls Sheila Dikshit a visionary leader as he took to Twitter to express his grief at the sudden death of former Delhi CM.
06:30 pm: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed condolence over the demise of veteran Congress leader Shiela Dikshit. Describing Dikshit as an able administrator and a seasoned politician, Patnaik said, "She was popular across party lines. She will be remembered for a long time for her contribution to the development of Delhi."
06:00 pm: The Delhi government has announced a two-day state mourning in view of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's death today.

05:25 pm: Ahmed Patel, Congress: I think her mortal remains will be taken to their home in 1-1:30 hours, then it will be decided tomorrow morning when to take it to Congress headquarters, then it will be taken to Nigam Bodh Ghat.
05:11 pm: Former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit's last rites will be held at the Nigambodh Ghat tomorrow. Her mortal remains will be kept for people to pay tributes at her residence in Nizamuddin till 11.30 a.m tomorrow, 21st July.

Dikshit was the longest-serving Chief Minister of Delhi, having served in office for 15 years from 1998. The 81-year-old was appointed as the president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee earlier this year, in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.
