SC denies reopening Assam NRC exercise, orders to secure data on lines of Aadhaar
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a plea to reopen the ongoing Assam National Register of Citizens exercise and said there would be no sample re-verification of the data.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice R F Nariman also directed that data collected for publishing in the NRC in Assam shall be kept as secure as the Aadhaar data.
The top court ordered that the list of those excluded from the final Assam NRC be published only online on August 31.
The top court had earlier said that the final Assam NRC would be published on or by August 31.
