New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: India is all set to celebrate the 71st Republic Day on Sunday. Republic Day is celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm across the country. People celebrate Republic Day as on this day, the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. On this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag and a parade will take place at India Gate, Rajpath in Delhi. Schools, colleges and institutions celebrate the day by hoisting tricolour and hold several cultural programmes. Parade is an important part of R-Day, people come from different parts of the country to witness the key event.

Here's how to get tickets for watching the Republic Day parade:

The tickets are being sold from January 7 to January 25, which can be bought at North Block Roundabout, Sena Bhawan (Gate No. 2), Pragati Maidan (Gate No. 1), Jantar Mantar (Main Gate), Shastri Bhawan (Gate No. 3), Jamnagar house (Opposite India Gate), Lal Qila (Inside 15 August park and opposite Jain Temple), Parliament House (Special counter for MPs).

The timing of buying ticket is between 10 am-12.30 pm and 2 pm-4.30 pm. The minimum price of ticket is Rs 20 while the maximum price is Rs 500 depending on the distance.

Things to Note:

One of the ticket counters in Sena Bhawan will remain open between January 23-25 till 7 pm.

On January 23, the ticket counters will open in the afternoon after the conclusion of the full dress rehearsal.

No tickets will be sold on January 26.

A separate ticket is available for the dress rehearsal (Beating Retreat), i.e., priced between Rs 20 and Rs 50.

This year the chief guest for R-Day is Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro. PM Modi had invited Bolsonaro on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit to be the chief guest at the Republic Day this year, which he accepted with pleasure.

The Ministry of Defence has selected 22 tableau out of 56 proposals for the Republic Day parade.
