Record 9,851 cases and 273 fatalities in last 24 hours take India's tally past 2.25 lakh; death toll at 6,348
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: With record number of 9,851 new infections recorded in the last 24 hours, India's tally of coronavirus cases reached 2,26,770 on Friday. The lastest spike in cases is the highest ever recorded in the country in a span of 24-hours. The death toll in country also reached 6,348 with 273 new fatalities recorded in a day, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate in India also improved and reached 48.2 per cent as of the total 2,26,770 cases, 1,10,960 are active cases while, 1,09,461 people have cured or discharged from the hospitals across the country. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 43,86,376 samples have been tested in the country so far, of which 1,43,661 have been tested in last 24 hours.
Among the Indian states, Maharashtra remains to eb the worst-affected state with 77,793 cases and 2,710 deaths so far. In Maharashtra the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is the worst hit region accounting for 44,704 cases and 1,465 deaths of the total in the state.
Following Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu remains to be the second worst-hit state. The southern state have so far recorded 27,256 cases while 220 people have succumbed to the deadly infection so far. The national capital remains to be the third worst-hit state with 25,004 cases and death toll reaching 650. Gujarat with 18,584 cases and 1,155 deaths is at number four on the list.
