Record 9,304 cases reported in last 24 hours take India's tally to 2,16,919; death toll crosses 6,000-mark
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: With 9,304 new infections being reported from across the country, India on Thursday recorded highest number of coronavirus cases in a span of 24 hours, taking the total toll to 2,16,919. The death toll in the country also crossed the 6000-mark and reached 6075 after 260 new fatalities were reported in last 24 hours.
Of the total 2,16,919 cases, 1,06,737 cases are active and are being treated, while 1,04,106 people have been cure and discharged from the hospitals. With this, the recovery rate in the country also reached 47.99 per cent.
India crossed the gruesome mark of 2 lakh yesterday after over 8,900 cases were reported from across the country. The last 1 lakh cases have been reported in just 15 days after India crossed the 1 lakh-mark. Thee alarming rise in the number of coronavirus cases can be seen as the states are announcing relaxations in the restrictions imposed due to lockdown after the Centre's announcement of Unlock 1.0.
Among the Indian states, Maharashtra tops the list of worst-affected states with 74,860 cases and 2,587 Covid-19 linked deaths. Following Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu remains to be the second worst-hit state 25,872 cases and 208 deaths. The national capital Delhi remains to be the third worst affected state with 23,645 cases and 606 deaths linked to COVID-19. While the western state of Gujarat is the fourth most affected Indian state. In Gujarat 18,100 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus while 1,122 people have succumbed to the deadly infection.
