New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The national capital Delhi is often labelled as the most polluted city in the country and also lists in some of the top polluted cities around the world. However, what comes as a surprise is that, in reality, it is not true. Coal-belching Jharia in Jharkhand is the most polluted city in India while Delhi ranks 10th in the list, a Greenpeace India report said. Last year, It was at the eighth spot. Lunglei in Mizoram is the least polluted city in India, followed by Meghalaya's Dowki.

Six of the 10 most-polluted cities in India are in UP -- Noida, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Allahabad, Moradabad & Firozabad, the report claimed. Jharkhand's Dhanbad, known for its rich coal reserves and industries, is the second-most polluted city in India, the report based on analysis of PM10 data from 287 cities across the country suggests.
