“To instill a sense of road safety the Uttar Pradesh chief minister recently held a meeting of DMs in Lucknow in which the instruction was passed to all DMs to implement ‘no helmet-no fuel’ policy,” said Sunil Singh, district supply officer.
“With Gautam Budh Nagar and Unnao districts among the firsts to implement the policy, it will now be implemented in Ghaziabad as well which will come into effect from Saturday midnight,” Singh added.
Singh said that apart from bikers, drivers of 4-wheelers will be denied fuel if they are found without seat belts.
Singh said that to ensure compliance, officials will randomly visit the filling stations.
