'No evidence': Police refute claims of 'foul play' in Sushant Singh Rajput's death
Mumbai | Jagran News Desk: Day after Sushant Singh Rajput’s family claimed that the 34-year-old actor was murdered, the Mumbai Police has refuted the claim, saying there has been no evidence for it.
According to a report by The Times of India, the police do not suspect that the actor had any financial problem while adding that the actor was in depression for the last six months.
The police told The Times of India that the MS Dhoni: The Untold Story actor’s sister used to visit Rajput frequently who also confirmed that Sushant was not going through a financial crisis.
“Sushant’s friend Shetty said that the actor had called him early on Sunday but he did not pick up. He said if he had, the situation might have been different,” The Times of India quoted a police official as saying.
The team of doctors – which included Dr Sachin Sonawane, Dr Shivkumar Kolle and Dr Sandeep Ingale – which conduct the postmortem of Rajput’s body also confirmed that the actor died due to asphyxia due to hanging.
“It’s a clear case of suicide by hanging. There were no other injuries on his body,” one of the doctors who conducted Sushant’s postmortem told The Times of India.
Rajput died on Sunday after he committed suicide at his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra. The actor’s family, however, alleged suspected foul play and claimed that the Sushant was murdered.
Sushant’s brother-in-law OP Singh, who is the Additional Director General of Police and posted as Special Officer in the Haryana Chief Minister's Office, sought a thorough probe into the shocking incident, reported news agency IANS.
Sushant’s maternal uncle also claimed that the actor didn’t commit suicide and he has been murdered. “We don’t think he committed suicide, police must investigate the matter. There seems to be a conspiracy behind his death. He has been murdered,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, Sushant’s postmortem report on Monday confirmed that the actor committed suicide by hanging himself. His autopsy, which was conducted at Dr RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital, said that the primary cause of death was asphyxia caused by hanging.
