New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: At least nine labourers died while several others were injured after a truck and bus collided in Naugachhia, Bhagalpur on Tuesday, reported news agency ANI.

The truck in which the labourers were travelling, fell off the road following the collision, the report stated. Rescue operation is underway.

This is the third such accident in the day. Earlier seven migrants lost their lives in two separate accidents in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. 

In the first incident, at least three migrants died in Uttar Pradesh after a DCM vehicle carrying them overturned on Jhansi-Mirzapur highway in UP's Mahoba. Around 17 persons were travelling in the vehicle.

In another incident in Maharashtra's Yavatmal, four migrant workers died, while 15 others suffered injuries after a bus in which they were travelling crashed into a truck.

On May 14, at least 14 migrants lost their lives in two separate accidents in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In the first incident, at least eight labourers died after a truck collided with a bus in Cantt PS area in Guna, while in a collision between a bus and a truck today near Shankar Chowk in Samastipur. A total of 66 migrants were injured in the accidents. 

Since the lockdown was announced on March 25 by the Prime Minister, lakhs of migrants across the country left for their hometowns. While the government arranged sharmik trains and buses for the plight of the migrants, many of them walked on foot. A lot of them lost their lives in numerous accidents.

A few weeks ago, at least 16 people died after they run over by a speeding train, while sleeping on railway tracks in Maharashtra. All of them were returning to Madhya Pradesh.
