New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The Union Health Ministry in its daily press briefing on Monday said that nearly 21,000 COVID-patients have been cured till date, adding that the recovery rate in the country has increased to 31.15 per cent.

"The total number of recoveries is 20,917, 44,029 people are under active medical supervision. In last 24 hours, there were 4213 new cases & 1559 recoveries. Recovery rate is now at 31.15%. Total number of cases is at 67,152, " said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary of Health Ministry as quoted by ANI.

Agarwal also informed that discharge policy has been changed to symptom and time-based strategy.

"Discharge policy has been changed because several countries have changed their policy from test-based strategy to symptom & time-based strategy. We have also changed it based on this," he told reporters.

"As per revised policy, mild/very mild/pre-symptomatic cases admitted to COVID care facility can be discharged after 10 days of symptom onset & if there is no fever for 3 days. No need to test before discharge, home isolation advised after discharge," ANI quoted Luv Agarwal as saying.

The Health Ministry in a video message also asked people having COVID-19 symptoms to come forward to report so that they don't spread infection to others.

The centre said that studies suggest viral load peaks in pre-symptomatic period (2 days before symptoms), goes down over next 7 days.

In the joint press briefing, Ministry of Health Affairs (MHA) informed that about 4,000 Indians have been brought back from 23 flights under Vande Bharath Mission. Besides this, at least five lakh migrant workers have been sent to their home states by 468 special trains. 

"Around 4000 Indians have been brought back by 23 flights under #VandeBharathMission. Over 5 lakh migrant workers have been sent to their home states by 468 special trains. 101 special trains were run yesterday," said Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secretary, Union Home Ministry.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Empowered Group 9, Ajay Swahney said that 'Aarogya Setu' mobile app has contributed significantly in India's fight against COVID-19.

"Aarogya Setu app has been downloaded in 9.8 crore smartphones so far. It will be available on Jio feature smartphones from tomorrow. We've worked a lot on data privacy of Arogya Setu users & made sure that user data are not compromised," he told ANI.
