Chandigarh | Jagran News Desk: Following the Centre's direction to extend the restrictions till May 31, Punjab government released the guidelines for the fourth phase of the coronavirus lockdown. 

As per the guidelines, movement of vehicles, including public transport, will be allowed in the state. The state government has also allowed inter-state Buses with mutual consent of other states. 

The Punjab government, however, has said that the night curfew will be strictly implemented in the state from 7 pm to 7 am. It has also allowed movement of persons within the state from 7 am to 7 pm, barring the containment zones from May 18, adding that shops will be allowed to open in the state from 7 am to 6 pm.

This comes a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) released the guidelines for the fourth phase of lockdown. A number of relaxations have been provided in the lockdoen 4.0. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that lockdown 4.0 would be very different from its predecessors, hinting at giving relaxations.


Meanwhile, Home Ministry of Sunday said that the fresh guidelines for the fourth phase of the nationwide lockdown were issued after taking the views of the state governments following a video conference held by PM Modi with the chief ministers on May 11.

Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said under the new guidelines effective from Monday, states and UTs will now categorise red, orange and green zones taking into consideration the revised guidelines issued by the Home Ministry on Sunday.

The ongoing countrywide lockdown was extended till May 31 by the National Disaster Management Authority.
