New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In wake of the surging coronavirus cases in the country, the central government will extend the lockdown till May 31, said a media report.

According to a India Today report, the Centre will extend the restrictions till May 31 with a focus on a gradual revival of economic activities in the fourth phase of the lockdown. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a high-level meeting, along with Home Minister Amit Shah and senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), on Saturday and discussed about lockdown 4.0, said the Indian Today report.

As per the report, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba will meet chief secretaries/DG's of all states/UTs via video conference at 9 pm on Sunday to discuss lockdown 4.0 guidelines.

Meanwhile, NDTV quoted sources as saying that the relaxations will mainly revolve around public transport - which is likely to include metro services.
