New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: A heavy traffic congestion was seen at toll booth on Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway on Monday amid nationwide lockdown which has been extended till May 31 to contain the spread of #COVID19, reported news agency ANI. There were long queues of vehicles at the check posts as many people willing to attend their offices arrived at the borders on early Monday morning. 

The commuters were stopped at the borders that led to the traffic jam, said a report from Navbharat Times. Both the states of UP and Delhi are yet to release any guidelines on border movement. 

Heavy vehicular traffic was also witnessed at the Delhi-Gurugram border as people came out to attend their offices.

The vehicular queue went was witnessed up to over a kilometer as police deployed at the border checked passes and identity cards of people travelling. Similar scenes were also witnessed at the Delhi-Gurugram borders as people were on their way to offices.

Besides this, there was also a huge surge in traffic on the streets in areas like income Tax Office (ITO), among others.

The development comes a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs issued guidelines that allowed inter-state movement of passenger vehicles and buses, with mutual consent of the state(s)/ UT(s). Standard Operating Procedures for movement of persons shall continue to operate, the ministry stated. 

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to release the detailed plan on relaxations and restrictions for the city based on centre guidelines.

The lockdown was announced on first announced on March 25 and it has been extended thrice.

Looking at the problems faced by the people across Delhi and Noida border, UP Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma has said that both the government will try to frame rules for Delhi-NCR together, as per media report.
