Karnataka: Dalit man stripped, thrashed allegedly for touching bike of man from upper caste
New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In a shocking incident, a man belonging to SC/ST community in Karnataka's Vijayapura district was allegedly thrashed and stripped by an angry mob for touching "a bike of a man who belonged to the upper caste", according to news agency ANI. The police have registered a case against 13 people following a complaint by the victim.
"An atrocity case was reported in Talikote yesterday about the assault on the Dalit Man from Minaji village. It was alleged that when he accidentally touched the bike of a man who belonged to the upper caste that he and his family members were assaulted by some 13 men," senior police officer Anupam Aggarwal was quoted as saying by NDTV.
The police have booked 13 people and registered the case under SC/ST Act and several other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Some of the accused have also been taken into custody for investigation.
